Safe Harbor Family Church

Serve

Safe Harbor has five teams that provide for the life of our community. We invite you to join one of them to get involved in the work of the church!

Pastoral Care Team

The Pastoral Care Team offers visitors an extravagant welcome and extends care to our members and friends. Each person on the team is charged with a particular pastoral care effort, which they do individually and/or oversee as the leader of a small group. For example, those on the Pastoral Care Team deliver food to those who are ill or bereaved, send cards to those celebrating birthdays or anniversaries, receive and distribute prayer concerns, or greet attendees at Sunday services.

Social Team

The Social Team offers opportunities for visitors, members, and friends to get to know one another in social settings. Each person on the team is charged with a particular social group, which they lead individually and/or oversee as the leader of a small group. Those on the Social Team organize various events: game night, craft night, parties, and outdoor excursions.

Outreach Team

The Outreach Team serves the wider community by participating in area organizations and inviting those they meet to join our community. We have three primary areas of outreach.

1. We offer rides to Grace House residents, attend Grace House Thanksgiving and Christmas events, regularly contribute to the Grace House Food Pantry, and provide other activities for Grace House residents. For more information about Grace House, check out this article.

2. We regularly volunteer with The Good Samaritan Center in Jackson (3rd Saturday of each month, from 9 a.m. to noon), to help with whatever needs to be done.

3. Our pastor is on the Board of PFLAG of Jackson, and our members are active in contributing to meetings. We also host monthly PFLAG meetings at Fondren Presbyterian Church (2nd Thursday of each month, 6:30-8 pm).

Our pastor is also happy to officiate same-sex weddings. We consider this a ministry within the heart of Mississippi.

Worship Team

The Worship Team contributes to our services of worship through music and more. You're invited to work with our music director on special music at 5 pm on whichever Sunday you'd like to offer your talents. Instrumentals, duets, solos, and more are all welcome! Worship team members also bake communion bread, pass the offering plate, make bulletins for Sunday services, distribute and clean up bulletins, and read scripture during Sunday services.

Education Team

The Education Team provides for the oversight and implementation of education in our community, from nursery-aged children through adults. Education team members serve on the Christian Education Committee, offer nursery care during Sunday services, teach elementary-aged children in Kids’ Harbor, lead our youth in Fluid, and serve as prayer partners for our kids and youth.
